Configure OBS

720p60 · 2500–3500 kbps CBR · keyframe 2s · x264 veryfast or NVENC
Set the bitrate to about half your real upload speed. If OBS shows dropped network frames, lower it; a higher number does not look better, it only drops frames. 1080p60 needs 4500–6000 kbps and a 10+ Mbps upload. Rate control: CBR, not VBR — a constant rate is what makes the 2s keyframe interval actually land on time. Turn Dynamic Bitrate off in Advanced settings: it silently breaks OBS's own auto-reconnect on a dropped connection, so a network hiccup can end your stream with no retry.
Encoder Settings
In OBS, go to Settings → Output, set Output Mode to Advanced, and match your bitrate to what you're actually sending.

Set Keyframe Interval to 2 seconds. That one matters for viewers switching quality mid-stream.
Going above these numbers will not improve your picture. The encoder runs out of detail to spend the bandwidth on and throws the rest away. It does cost you viewers: anyone whose connection cannot hold your bitrate gets dropped to the 360p backup, and phones on cellular rarely sustain more than about 5 Mbps. A stream sent at triple the recommended rate looks identical and reaches fewer people.
If you are not sure what you are sending, check Settings → Video for your Output Resolution and FPS, then use the row that matches.

- Go to Settings → Stream
- Service: Custom
- Server:

- Go to Settings → Output and set your bitrate and keyframe interval from the Encoder Settings box above
- Click OK, then "Start Streaming" when ready
